TrackCouture Launches First Officially Licensed NASCAR Clothing Line Designed Exclusively for Women
Memphis, Tennessee, February 23, 2006 –
TrackCouture, a new company based in Memphis, has raced onto the NASCAR and fashion scenes with its unique clothing and fresh, trendy look.
The founders of TrackCouture have created a lifestyle brand designed by women to meet the needs of female NASCAR fans. The brand is built around NASCAR licensed apparel and accessories. The TrackCouture line features driver-specific merchandise, enabling women to look good while supporting their favorite driver.
As the first officially licensed NASCAR clothing line designed exclusively for women, TrackCouture raises the bar for female fan race apparel with its flattering cuts, stylish looks and fun designs. Prior to the arrival of TrackCouture, women's race apparel was very limited in style, design and choice.
"We wanted to create a clothing line that enables women to be both sporty and sexy," said Lisa Heros, co-president of TrackCouture. "Our clothing line allows women to be flirty and fashionable at the track and away from it."
TrackCouture has secured merchandising agreements with Joe Gibbs Racing, MB2/MB Sutton Motorsports, Penske Racing and Roush Racing. These agreements have allowed TrackCouture to be associated with some of the hottest NASCAR stars including 2005 Nextel Cup winner, Tony Stewart, Carl Edwards, Ryan Newman, Mark Martin, Denny Hamlin and Kurt Busch.
The idea for TrackCouture came from personal experience at the 2004 Las Vegas race. Heros and some friends made their own shirts after being disappointed in the selection available for women.
"All day people kept coming up to us trying to buy our shirts," said Heros. "We got some terrific offers and it made me realize there was an opening for a clothing line for women."
According to NASCAR there are 75 million fans in the United States and 40 percent of those fans are women.
"It is hard to believe that with this many female fans that no one has thought of designing clothes for them already," said Kathleen Smith, co-president of TrackCouture.
The TrackCouture line is manufactured in America and includes tank tops, fleeces, skirts and pants. The clothing is high-quality and has been designed with fashionable women in mind. The full line of TrackCouture's fashions is only available online at www.TrackCouture.com, while select items are in race team shops.
The TrackCouture Web site has been designed as more than an online store. It is an interactive tool for fans to learn more about their favorite driver, answer polls, and sign up to be part of Team TrackCouture to receive fashion tips and information on what's occurring in the racing world.
"We have tried to make the online shopping experience fun and consumer friendly," said Smith. "It provides a good balance of shopping and information for even the most intense NASCAR fan."

About the founders
Lisa Maria Heros was born and raised in Memphis, Tennessee. She received her Bachelor in Business Administration in Marketing from The University of Mississippi. She continued her studies for two more years at Ole Miss in order to earn her Master in Business Administration in Management.
Diane Kathleen Smith was born and raised in Memphis, Tennessee as well. Smith studied studio art and art history at The University of Virginia before studying fashion design at Parsons School of Design and Otis College of Design. Her experience includes working at Saks Fifth Avenue, MAC Cosmetics, and as a model with Colors Agency.
Smith and Heros met in the sixth grade at St. Agnes Academy in Memphis, Tennessee. Throughout college, the two expressed similar interests in the fashion and sports industries. Creating a company that would mesh the two industries together seemed a likely fit for two stylish professional sports fanatics. Thus, the idea of TrackCouture was born.
